Nationally Recognized Expert on Human Trafficking Announced as Keynote Speaker

KVC Nebraska is proud to announce Rebecca Bender as the Keynote Speaker of our Resource Family Conference taking place March 6-7, 2020, in Lincoln, NE! Rebecca is the founder and CEO of the Rebecca Bender Initiative (RBI). She is also an award-winning social entrepreneur and nationally recognized expert on human trafficking.

Rebecca thought she was living her dream when she moved to Las Vegas with her boyfriend at the age of 19. However, her dream became her nightmare when her boyfriend forced her into human trafficking. Trapped, coerced, abused and controlled, Rebecca was forced into prostitution for nearly six years before federal authorities intervened and helped her to escape this cycle of violence and trauma.

Today, Rebecca tells her story while helping others tell their own. She is a sought after speaker and consultant in addition to her features on the Today Show, NBC Deadline Crimes, Forbes, Huffington Post and Sports Illustrated.

Rebecca speaks on leadership and founding non-profits, serves on the United States National Advisory Committee, Department of Justice Human Trafficking Advisory Council, and the board of Exodus Cry. She is the recipient of the Female Overcomer Award, Unlikely Hero Award, Hero to our Generation Award and multiple FBI and Congressional accolades. Her books Roadmap to Redemption and In Pursuit of Love are must-reads for those who work in social services and those interested in social justice and giving a voice to the voiceless.

Resource Family Conference

KVC Nebraska’s Resource Family Conference will be held March 6-7 at The Cornhusker, A Marriott Hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska. This one-of-a-kind training opportunity is provided for KVC Nebraska resource families, non-KVC affiliated resource families and industry professionals.

What is a Resource Family?

Resource families are individuals and families who are caring for youth in foster care or individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities through the Extended Family Home program.

Training & Childcare

Conference attendees will learn about topics such as body safety, growth mindsets, mental health awareness and compassion fatigue. Meanwhile, children and clients of KVC resource families will enjoy fun activities like trips to Lost in Fun, Urban Air, the Lincoln Zoo and more.
