March is National Social Work Month! During this time, KVC Nebraska honors the incredible ways that our social workers, clinicians and other professionals help children, adults and families. Social work is a helping profession focused on enhancing human well-being and meeting people’s basic and complex needs, with a particular focus on those who are vulnerable, oppressed or living in poverty. No matter their specific licensure, KVC employees bring compassion, knowledge, and care that make a tremendous positive impact in hundreds of communities in the United States.
KVC Nebraska’s Parents and Children Together program provides in-home crisis intervention and skill-building to strengthens families.
Some families experience challenges that are difficult to overcome alone. Our In-Home Services team, and amazing people like Kathleen Mapes, helps families overcome issues and remain safely together.

At KVC Nebraska, we are working to balance workloads, advocate for increased funding to support individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, and provide early intervention services to help keep families together. Last fiscal year, we helped place 817 children and teens in loving foster homes and provided in-home support to 179 families experiencing tough times.
