Holiday Heroes Donate Gifts for Hundreds of Nebraska Youth in Foster Care
During the 2016 holiday season, generous individuals and organizations partnered with us to give gifts to 460 Nebraska children and teens involved in the child welfare system in Lincoln, Omaha and surrounding communities. These Holiday Heroes donated toys, games, electronics, clothing, gift cards and more to make the holidays special for these youth in foster care.
Living away from home during the holidays can be an unsure time for a child in foster care. They may question if they will have presents to open. By donating gifts, these Holiday Heroes have been an enormous support to the foster families who are providing safety, care and love to a child.
Thank you to these individuals and organizations:
- Gift wrappers Chrissy Scheer, Kathy Hurt, Annette Hurt, Casie Kittler, Chandlyre & Denise Raygoza and friends
- KVC foster parents Doug and Jamie Dawson who recruited Holiday Heroes at their workplaces which resulted in dozens of gifts for teenagers
Toys for Tots
Sgt. Angel Muro and all of the generous donors to the Toys for Tots program provided many gifts for children and youth in foster care.
Matt Schaefer and his team have supported the Holiday Hero program for four years by donating trucks and team members to distribute gifts in Lincoln and Omaha.
