KVC’s Workplace Culture of Belonging & Growth
At KVC Nebraska, we offer a positive, supportive workplace where each person can do work they love. In fact, we’re so proud of our culture that we see it as our top competitive advantage in the health and human services field.
With a team of just 60 employees, we’re driven by our shared mission: to enrich and enhance the lives of youth, individuals and families. And while we fill many different roles, our approach is inspired by our core values:
- The heart of our work is helping people.
- Our character is built on authenticity and compassion.
- Family connection drives our culture.
- Collaboration fuels our improvement.
- Urgency and innovation mark our approach.
- Diverse perspectives are key to our progress.
- Always asking ourselves, “What would you want for your child?”
In addition to being mission-driven, we offer employees an unparalleled level of flexibility, wellbeing, learning, inclusion, recognition and rewards. Keep reading to learn more.
Work Environment
At KVC Nebraska, we deliver vital services that help youth, adults and families thrive. From foster care and family reunification to Shared Living for people with disabilities, intensive in-home support, outpatient therapy and substance use evaluation and treatment—we meet people where they are with practical, caring solutions.
We’re proud to be part of KVC Health Systems, a nonprofit network with over 65 locations across five states. While the broader network offers inpatient psychiatric treatment and therapeutic schools, KVC Nebraska focuses on community-based services that create lasting change close to home.
While workplace setting varies, we’ve been known for decades for offering flexibility. Many roles allow for hybrid or remote work, and we provide tools for employees to succeed. We also encourage teamwork through digital collaboration tools, open-office designs and a focus on cross-departmental partnerships.
Employee Engagement
Since 2019, KVC has been laser-focused on supporting employee engagement by creating a positive, supportive workplace. Twice each year, all employees are invited to share their voices and be heard through our Q12 employee engagement survey. From there, local teams discuss the feedback and strategize on how to continue building on what’s working well.
The results speak for themselves: while U.S. employee engagement has been trending downward nationally, it’s been soaring to record heights at KVC. And we’re just getting started in creating an exceptional place to work! Learn more about KVC’s culture of engagement.
“At KVC we are unlocking the full potential of our workforce with the Gallup Q12 survey, a powerful tool designed to enhance employee engagement and drive meaningful culture change through continuous improvement and coaching. By focusing on the essential elements that contribute to a thriving workplace, the Gallup Q12 survey empowers organizations to foster collaboration, boost morale, and increase productivity, ultimately leading to a more motivated and committed team.” – Renny Arensberg, Executive Vice President of Employee Engagement

Learning & Development
KVC loves to promote our employees’ professional growth and development. We often promote from within, giving team members opportunities to grow their careers and have long futures at KVC. In fact, many of our leaders have been with the organization for 10, 20, 30 years or more advancing in their roles.
One benefit that fosters growth is our Tuition Reimbursement Program. Employees can receive up to $21,000 from the program towards furthering their education. We are building leaders and investing in our employees’ professional development which builds thriving teams and strengthens our culture.

A Place Where Everyone Belongs
At KVC, we’re building a culture of connection for all. Inspired by the many different backgrounds of the youth, adults and families we serve, we seek to create a workplace culture that embraces differences and is committed to respect and belonging.
We’re proud to have a team of people with unique skills, talents, experiences and perspectives who have helped us build such a rich community. Being welcomed by a team that celebrates individuality will inspire the work you do and make it easy for you to show up as your full self. At KVC, you can work with the best in a culture that brings out your best.
Our commitment to respect and belonging goes above and beyond with the guidance and efforts of our KVC Connection Council, an internal group of employees who meet regularly to discuss how we’re continuing to build connection with each other and clients served and bridge belonging with every KVC interaction.
