Managing Undesirable Behaviors for KVC Foster Parents Part 1 (2 CEU’s)
November 18, 2023 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

This training will be offered at the Lincoln office and virtually.
This training on managing undesirable behaviors is available to KVC foster parents. It is worth 2 CEUs.
There are many things that can cause a child to have temper tantrums, emotional outbursts, and general “bad” or unexpected behavior. These can include biological reasons, like being hungry or overtired. It can include communication issues related to learning challenges. It also can include emotional reasons, like not being able to cope with or describe their feelings. Their environment can also influence behavior. Time outs. Shouting. Taking away toys. These punishments can have an impact, but they often do not provide the results that you’re looking for. What they tend to do is cause kids to perform behaviors they think will help them avoid punishment. But they aren’t necessarily looking for behaviors that will get them praise. This distinction is why you’ll sometimes find children sneaking around or choosing a different unwanted behavior that they believe will prevent punishment rather than the desired one. In this training, we will discuss strategies caregivers can use to help their children learn better and psychologically healthier behaviors.
