De-escalation Training (Lincoln, Neb.)

Verbal De-escalation training teaches skills that foster parents can use to calm a situation. Various techniques are taught. 1.5 CEUs.
Objectives:
- Discuss the importance of building a relationship before there is a need to de-escalate.
- Learning Verbal De-escalation skills.
- Discuss Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs.
- Learn stages of the Crisis Cycle
- Discuss what you need to do to have your R.A.D.A.R on at all times.
- Understand physical responses to escalation.
- Practice Active Listening and Reflective Listening skills.

Childcare is available at all trainings, but foster parents must sign-up for childcare prior to each training date. Foster Parents are required to earn 12 hours of CEUs each year of their licensing period (for a total of 24 hours per licensing period).
