About Katie Mapes
Katie Mapes is a dedicated Clinical and Prevention Services Supervisor at KVC Nebraska, bringing a deep passion for supporting children, families and the professionals who serve them. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and is committed to strengthening systems of care through mentorship, training and compassionate leadership.
Professional Role and Leadership
As Clinical and Prevention Services Supervisor, Katie trains, mentors and supports the Clinical and Prevention Services team to help ensure Nebraska children and families receive high-quality, trauma-informed care. Her role focuses on empowering staff, building confidence in clinical practice and fostering consistency across services.
Katie’s leadership is shaped by her hands-on experience in child welfare. She began her career at KVC Kansas as a Case Manager working toward family reunification and later served as a Kinship Worker, identifying relatives and family friends as placement options for children in foster care. These roles gave her a strong foundation in foster care systems, court processes and family-centered decision-making. She now uses that experience daily to support and guide her team.
Her top strengths include Connectedness, Activator, Belief, Futuristic and Woo. These strengths help her inspire momentum, keep the bigger picture in focus and build meaningful relationships across teams.

By approaching every interaction with intention, empathy and respect, Katie encourages her team to recognize the influence they have when supporting families and community partners.
Life Outside Work
Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, walking her dog, trying new restaurants and shopping. She values balance and believes taking time to recharge helps her support her team and the families KVC serves.

Katie’s Message on Supporting Our Mission
“If I weren’t employed at KVC, I would support the mission by volunteering my time or using my clinical skills. I would partner with KVC to provide mental health services to youth and families who need support. Access to quality mental health care can be life-changing. I believe in using our skills and passions to strengthen families and communities.”
