SUMMARY:Probation 101 Training (2.5 CEUs)
DESCRIPTION:*This training is STRONGLY SUGGESTED for foster parents caring for youth involved in the juvenile justice system.* \nTraining Description\nProbation 101 is provided by the Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation. It is aimed at building relationships between providers and probation officers by educating attendees on their mission and purpose. The training will discuss the differences between youth on probation and youth placed through DHHS and explain the process Probation uses to assess\, engage\, train\, and reinforce change in the youth they serve. \nThis training will also discuss the relationship between providers and team members and the goal of working towards the greater good for the youth and the community. This skills-based training will qualify for Professional Foster Care Training Requirements and meets criminogenic CEU’s. She also oversees access to services for special populations who are often overrepresented in congregate care facilities. She is the Probation Liaison to the Nebraska Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services – Division of Developmental Disabilities. \nJulie has more than 20 years experience working with high-risk youth and families in Nebraska. She began her career in school-based prevention efforts with at-risk youth and families\, has provided family support services\, and worked with young mothers in residential group home programs. Julie worked for the Department of Health and Human Services prior to beginning her Probation career in 2013. \nJulie earned a bachelor’s degree in human development from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) and began a master’s program in education from UNL before beginning her career with the Department of Health and Human Services.
