SUMMARY:Want to Foster or Adopt? Take the First Step with This Training – Omaha\, NE
DESCRIPTION:More than 3\,000 Nebraska children and teens need foster families to open their hearts and homes. It only takes ONE caring adult to change a child’s life. How about you? \nOne of the first and most important steps to become a licensed foster or adoptive parent is to complete TIPS-MAPP training (Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence – Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting). This class prepares you to care for a child who has experienced trauma and helps you build many other skills in your journey to become a foster or adoptive parent. TIPS-MAPP also aids you in determining if fostering or adopting is right for you. \nKVC Nebraska offers this 10-week course at no cost to you. Classes will be held from 6-9 pm every Tuesday with the first class taking place on August 5\, 2019\, and the last class taking place on October 7\, 2019. Class size is limited and new class groups start every 4-6 weeks. \nIf you’re considering becoming a foster parent with KVC and want to sign up for class\, please contact Becki Schindler at (402) 578-3173 or rschindler@kvc.org. \nIf you are already a licensed KVC foster parent\, please complete the “KVC AFFILIATE REGISTRATION.” If you are a foster parent licensed with another agency or an industry professional\, please complete the “NON-KVC REGISTRATION.” \nKVC Affiliate REGISTration     Non-kvc REGISTration\nIf you have additional questions\, you can contact our Training Coordinator at memmert@kvc.org. \nClick here to learn more about becoming a foster parent.
