DESCRIPTION:We are sad to announce the 5th Annual Crop for Kids\, slated for July 31\, August 1 and August 2\, has been canceled due to COVID-19. Participant safety and that of KVC staff\, volunteers and vendors are of the utmost importance. Current public health guidance recommends limiting large gatherings\, maintaining proper social distancing\, and avoiding non-essential contact. If you have already registered\, a KVC team member will be contacting you shortly about your registration fee.\nWe are offering full refunds of registration fees and t-shirt purchases. Participants may request a refund or ask that their registration fee be considered a donation to KVC Nebraska. All donations go toward helping Nebraska children and families and are 100% tax-deductible. DESCRIPTION:More than 3\,000 Nebraska children and teens need foster families to open their hearts and homes. It only takes ONE caring adult to change a child’s life. How about you? \nOne of the first and most important steps to become a licensed foster or adoptive parent is to complete TIPS-MAPP training (Trauma-Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence – Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting). This class prepares you to care for a child who has experienced trauma and helps you build many other skills in your journey to become a foster or adoptive parent. TIPS-MAPP also aids you in determining if fostering or adopting is right for you. \nKVC Nebraska offers this virtual course at no cost to you. Classes will be held from 5:30–8:30pm every Tuesday with the first class taking place August 18\, 2020\, and the last class taking place October 27\, 2020. In the Mandt System Training\, there are several helpful verbal de-escalation tools taught that employees\, foster families\, and Shared Living Providers can utilize to encourage safety and connection through effective communication with individuals served\, family members\, co-workers\, friendships\, professionals\, etc. \nThe Mandt System trains R.A.D.A.R. as a way to help individuals effectively assess what is going on inside of them\, with the people around them\, and their environment to impact their decision-making skills and decide to act in a helpful way\, instead of depending only on their reactions to the situation.
